Edition 8, in partnership with

Gong Bath & Breathwork

If you've never tried a gong bath, the premise is simple: you lie down, close your eyes, and let the sound do the work. Run by Gabi Lozano, W4 Gong Bath hosts intimate sessions across west London, and there are three coming up worth knowing about.

First up is at Putney Town Rowing Club on Friday 5 June at 7pm. Don't let the name fool you; this riverside venue is actually located in Kew, making it the perfect local setting for a Friday sunset reset. Tickets are Β£10. Later in June, the sessions move to Hammersmith Quaker Centre for a Magic Yin Yoga and Gong Bath combination on Friday 26 June, and then again on Monday 6 July for a Summer Rest and Alignment evening. Both Hammersmith sessions are Β£20 and start at 7pm.

More dates are being added through the autumn, so worth checking the site if none of those work.

Chiswick, your weekly guide to the people, businesses and stories that give the area its character.

This week is a good one. A fruit stall that has quietly anchored the High Road for over 50 years, gong bath sessions by the Thames, mandala art workshops at Room2 Cafe, and a handful of local specialists who are exactly who you want in your corner. And if you're out and about on Sunday, the Flower Market and Car Boot Sale are both on, two of the best reasons to set your alarm a little earlier.

Glad to have you with us.

At the top of Duke's Avenue, next to Campbell's Chemist, Collins fruit stall has been a fixture of Chiswick High Road for over 50 years. Kevin and Lavinia run it with the kind of quiet dedication that doesn't make headlines but keeps a neighbourhood feeling like itself.

The range goes well beyond the usual. Alongside everyday staples you'll find custard apples, snake fruit, mangoes and strawberries that are worth going out of your way for. If you're after something specific they don't have, ask β€” they attend the wholesale market daily and will do their best to track it down.

Over the years, many of their customers have become friends. On a freezing morning or a blustery afternoon, that probably matters as much as the produce.

Our weekly pick: @chiswickcreatives
A collective of local artists and makers keeping creativity alive in W4. They host regular meetups, pop-up markets and community events β€” and with nearly 3,000 local followers, they're one of Chiswick's most active creative communities. If you're creative or just curious, worth a follow.

Chiswick Flower Market is set for a bumper June edition.
Chiswick Flower Market returns on Sunday 7 June, and this month's edition looks like one of its biggest yet. More than 45 traders are expected, with a strong showing from British flower farmers selling seasonal blooms, many cut just the night before. New this month is the Plant Fairs Roadshow, bringing rare and collector plants usually seen only at major RHS events. Free entry, Old Market Place, 9am to 4pm. Source: Chiswick Calendar

Brentford FC is looking to bring live music to the Gtech Community Stadium from summer 2027.
The club is proposing up to six concerts a year, all taking place at weekends between football seasons and without any changes to the existing stadium structure. The plans are still subject to approval from Hounslow Council, with a local consultation expected in June. No artists have been announced yet, but if approved, it could add another major live music venue to the local calendar. Source: Chiswick Calendar

This week, we’re featuring two Chiswick specialists helping locals feel better in very different ways: a personal trainer working from a calm riverside setting, and an interior design studio helping people turn renovation ideas into properly managed, beautifully finished spaces.

Both are exactly the kind of local businesses Inside Chiswick was set up to spotlight: expert, personal, and quietly doing excellent work close to home.

W4PersonalTraining is run by Joy Bartoli, an experienced personal trainer based by the river at Strand on the Green. Joy works with clients from their 20s to their 80s across a wide range of goals, conditions and starting points, with no gym membership required. Sessions take place in a calmer, more private setting than a traditional gym environment.

Female fitness is a particular focus. Joy's approach to strength training is built around the reality that women often need to train differently, with careful attention to nutrition, hormones, emotional wellbeing and life stage to create results that hold.

A few highlights from the week ahead, hand-picked from our events calendar. New events are being added daily through summer; worth bookmarking.

Ekta Mody runs mandala art workshops from Room2 Cafe in Chiswick, teaching a meditative art form that's older than most people realise. Her sessions are designed for all levels, the kind of thing that gives you two hours away from a screen and something beautiful to take home.

She runs two regular workshops: the Signature Mandala Art Creation Workshop, which works through the structure and symmetry of traditional mandala design, and the Dot Mandala on Black Canvas Workshop, a bold technique that produces striking results even for complete beginners. Ekta has been featured on BBC Sunday Morning Live and has worked with the National Maritime Museum and the Indian High Commission.

Inside Chiswick readers get Β£5 off any of the 6 or 7 June workshops with code CREATE at checkout.
