Edition 7, in partnership with

Evolve Architecture is an architectural practice based at 10 Barley Mow Passage in Chiswick. The team works closely with each client to understand how they want to live, delivering spaces that are considered, refined and personal. They're increasingly focused on improving the thermal efficiency of older and listed properties. There are plenty of W4 homes that can be transformed significantly without the disruption of an extension.

Reader offer: complimentary home potential review throughout June. The practice director will visit your home (or review photos and plans remotely) to identify layout improvements, extension opportunities, interior flow issues and local planning constraints.

Welcome back to Inside Chiswick, your weekly guide to the people, businesses and stories that make W4 worth living in.

This week: Evolve Architecture on why so many Chiswick homes don't need an extension to be transformed, The Post Room's Friday evening offer that's worth knowing about, and two local specialists who've built their work around what women at different life stages actually need. Plus good news from Dukes Meadows, and the Chiswick Flower Market's biggest ever June edition.

Glad you're here.

A quick correction from last week: we described Chiswick Pier as being at the end of Hartington Road. It's actually at Corney Reach, at the end of Edensor Road. Apologies for the error — and if you'd like to see it for yourself, the Pier Trust are running a Midsummer Afternoon Tea Cruise on 14 June. Tickets £38.

The Post Room is an independent coffee shop and brunch spot at 2 Bedford Corner, a short walk from Turnham Green station overlooking Acton Green. It has the kind of relaxed, unhurried feel that's getting harder to find on a high street.

The house-made cakes are worth the visit alone, and a good number of them are gluten free. From spring through autumn, Friday evenings take on a different character entirely: wines, cocktails and charcuterie for those who want to linger.

If you need a reason to set your alarm on a Sunday morning, this is it. The Chiswick Flower Market Instagram is exactly what it should be: bright, seasonal and full of the kind of colour that makes you want to buy things you didn't know you needed. With the biggest ever June edition coming up on 7 June, their feed is worth a follow ahead of the weekend. Over 45 traders, 20+ British flower farmers selling blooms cut the night before, and free entry on Chiswick High Road from 9am.

We also want to make space for the positive things happening across the area. This section is our way of highlighting the community moments, local successes and uplifting stories that help make Chiswick such a good place to live.

Sand Martins, Swifts and Blackcaps, and you can help track them.
After twelve months of monthly monitoring at Dukes Meadows, the project is moving to quarterly walks to track long-term trends. The first of 2026 takes place this Sunday 31 May, starting at 10am from the Bowls Club café beside the Farmers Market. Sign up 👉 here.
Last year's highlights included Sand Martins nesting in the river wall, a rare find for an urban park, alongside Swifts, Chiffchaffs and Blackcaps. No experience needed; all data feeds into a wider conservation record.

The Chelsea buzz is coming to Chiswick High Road on 7 June.
Chiswick Flower Market's June edition is its biggest yet: over 45 traders, more than 20 British flower farmers selling blooms cut the night before, and the Plant Fair Roadshow bringing rare and collector plants usually only seen at major RHS events. Free entry, Old Market Place, 9am to 4pm.

Founded by former professional dancer Donna Schoenherr, the charity launched its Chiswick Health Centre session a year ago and has been growing since. Their Summer Showcase takes place on Saturday 1 August at St Peter's Church Hall, Acton Green: free entry, no booking needed. Source: Chiswick Calendar

This week's business spotlight features two specialists who've built their work around what women at different stages of life actually need. One helps you build the strength to carry through every decade. The other helps exhausted new mums and their babies find their rhythm. Both are local, both are worth knowing about.

Riafirm is a personal training service run by Ria Hallett, a Grove Park-based trainer specialising in strength training for women at every stage of life. Having spent her earlier career as a solicitor, Ria brings a practical approach to fitness: building sustainable habits around muscle mass, strength, mobility and bone density that fit around a busy life rather than fighting against it. Sessions run from West4 Gym on Sutton Lane North (no membership required) or at your home.

Reader offer: 10 sessions for £575, saving £25 on the standard block rate. Payment upfront; sessions valid for 4 months from booking. Gift vouchers also available. Mention Inside Chiswick when you get in touch. Offer must be secured by 15 June.

Ines Zdelar is a Chiswick-based family sleep coach and maternity nurse with over 25 years of experience supporting families through the early months of parenthood. Her approach centres on gentle sleep shaping, working with your baby's temperament and cues rather than against them, to help exhausted parents feel calm and confident again.

Her new 6-week programme, Calm Baby, Rested Mother, launches on 2 June. Created for first-time mums with babies aged 0-6 months, it covers understanding your baby's cues, flexible rhythms and responsive settling techniques. This is not a cry-it-out programme. Founding members receive six weekly live coaching sessions, weekly Q&A support, a private community and a complimentary 60-minute 1:1 session with Ines. Places are limited.
