The Hogarth Youth & Community Centre is a brilliant local charity and community hub in the heart of Chiswick, providing youth programmes, support and opportunities for young people aged 8 to 21. From after-school clubs and cooking workshops to football, music sessions and an annual summer residential trip away, the Centre creates space for young people to learn, play and grow up in good company. As a charity, it relies on local support to keep its work going, and thanks to its distinctive funding model, every £1 donated goes directly towards youth work.

Hello and welcome to Inside Chiswick, your weekly guide to the people, businesses and stories that make our little corner of West London such a special place to live. Think of us as your friendly local companion, sharing what's happening, what's worth knowing, and the brilliant local businesses we think deserve a bit of a shout-out.
We've got some exciting news this week: our events calendar is now live! It joins our local business directory over at insidechiswick.com, which means everything Chiswick is all in one place, whether you're after a Sunday flower market, a midweek backgammon night or a summer cabaret. Have a browse, bookmark it, share it with a neighbour.
This week's edition is packed with lovely things: fantastic local businesses, a feel-good roundup of community news, a social account worth following, and plenty of events to fill your diary. We're so glad you're here.

Each week, we’ll be spotlighting a local food and drink business that adds something special to Chiswick. If you’d like to be featured, or know a local favourite we should include, please get in touch.
Tucked into Chiswick High Road at number 66–68, Villa di Geggiano is the London outpost of a Tuscan estate that's been in the Bianchi Bandinelli family for over 500 years. They were reputedly the first to bring Chianti to England, back in 1725. The kitchen champions fresh, authentic Italian ingredients, many of them coming direct from the family's own villa and farms in Chianti. The dining room, all portrait-lined walls and white linen, feels closer to a private home than a High Road restaurant. With summer on the way, the terrace is about to come into its own.
Worth knowing: their three-course set lunch (£29) runs every day from 12–3pm and is one of the more civilised ways to spend an afternoon in W4. Beyond the main dining room, there are private dining rooms for special occasions and a conference suite for corporate use, both worth keeping in mind for larger gatherings.

Chiswick House & Gardens is one of the area’s real treasures, sharing a lovely mix of seasonal garden updates, community events, heritage stories and behind-the-scenes moments from the estate. It’s a beautiful reminder of how much history, nature and creativity we have right here on our doorstep.
Their website is also well worth a look, with plenty of useful information on upcoming events, visiting the gardens and supporting the brilliant work they do locally.

We also want to make space for the positive things happening across the area. This section is our way of highlighting the community moments, local successes and uplifting stories that help make Chiswick such a good place to live.

This week, we're shining a light on two very different but equally lovely Chiswick businesses. Zena & Rose is keeping the heritage craft of wood block printing alive from a local studio, while Jennifer Purchase is bringing a more personal approach to the local property market. Two brilliant examples of the creativity and care that make Chiswick what it is.
Jennifer Purchase brings a more personal, relationship-led approach to selling homes, backed by over 15 years of experience across the London property market. Having worked in both major agency and independent settings, including Prime Central London, Jennifer combines professional market knowledge with a thoughtful understanding of how important each move can be for the people behind it.

Her approach is deliberately focused and personal, working with a select number of clients at a time so each home gets the care, attention and strategic positioning it deserves. It feels like a refreshing alternative for anyone looking for clear advice, discretion and a more considered selling experience.

Zena & Rose is a Chiswick-based printmaking and pattern design studio championing the heritage craft of wood block printing, blending its Indian origins with a British eye. Their botanical wood blocks are hand-carved by artisans in India, and their beginners' kits and Chiswick workshops offer a creative, hands-on way into textile design, whether you're stamping a tote bag or finding a new weekend hobby.
Use code CHIS10 at zenaandrose.com for 10% off workshops, kits and supplies until the end of June (one use per customer, excludes artwork and discounted bundles).

A few highlights from the week ahead, hand-picked to whet your appetite. For the full picture, our brand-new events calendar is now live on the website. It's already brimming with what's on through the end of May, with new events being added daily for the rest of summer and beyond.
Ooh La La Burlesque Cabaret: Sunday 17th May, 7.00pm to 10.30pm, George IV
An intimate night, bringing together live music, burlesque and a generous dose of cheeky fun. Created by Chiswick residents Anny and Alan Austin-Smith, the show transforms a familiar local venue into something more glamorous and unexpected, with a West End feel right here in W4.
The evening is polished but relaxed, with high-end international performers, a lively atmosphere and just the right amount of mischief. It is the kind of local event that feels a little different from the usual night out, which may explain why shows are selling out and audiences keep coming back.
Gunnersbury parkrun: Saturday 2nd May, 9am, Gunnersbury Park
A free, friendly, weekly 5k where you can walk, jog, run, volunteer or simply cheer from the sidelines. Whatever your pace, all are welcome, and the post-run coffee at the Gunnersbury Park café is very much part of the tradition.
Chiswick Car Boot Sale: Sunday 3rd May, 6.30am to 12.30pm, Chiswick School
One of the South East's best-loved car boots returns this Sunday with its usual eclectic mix of vintage clothing, antiques, plants, vinyl, books, furniture and more. Entry is just £1 (free for under-12s) and all proceeds go to Chiswick School's PTA, supporting the education of 1,600 students.
Chiswick Flower Market: Sunday 3rd May, 9.00am to 4.00pm, Old Market Place
West London's much-loved flower market is back with over 35 traders, including RHS Chelsea Gold-winning nurseries, selling everything from cut flowers and houseplants to bulbs, bouquets and gardening accessories. Run almost entirely by local volunteers, it's the perfect way to spend a spring Sunday on the High Road.
Café Conversations: Monday 4th May, 3.00pm to 4.30pm, Avanti
A friendly, free weekly meet-up for anyone wanting to chat with new people over a wide range of topics, hosted in a relaxed café setting. All ages, backgrounds and English-speaking levels are welcome, with two hosts on hand to make sure everyone gets a chance to join in.
Backgammon for Fun: Wednesday 6th May, 6.30pm, The Steam Packet
A relaxed, social backgammon evening at one of Chiswick's loveliest riverside pubs, welcoming players of all levels who fancy a few friendly games. No tournaments, no ranking points, just good company and a great excuse to brush up on the world's oldest board game.
