Welcome to Inside Chiswick, a new weekly newsletter created to celebrate the people, businesses and local stories that give the area its character. We want it to be a useful, upbeat guide to what’s happening in and around Chiswick, while also helping readers discover and support brilliant local businesses.
Alongside the newsletter, we’ve recently launched our local business directory, and next week we’ll also be introducing a comprehensive events calendar to make it even easier to see what’s on locally. This week, we’re pleased to be featuring some fantastic local businesses that reflect the quality and variety of the area. We’re very glad to have you with us.

Each week, we’ll be spotlighting a local food and drink business that adds something special to Chiswick. If you’d like to be featured, or know a local favourite we should include, please get in touch.
Coffee Against the Machine is a genuinely distinctive new addition to Chiswick, tucked away downstairs at Bookcase (268 Chiswick High Road, W4 1PD), inside Underground Vinyl. Open at weekends from 11am to 5pm on both Saturday and Sunday, it offers a calmer, more thoughtful alternative to the usual café experience, with a hand-brew only menu focused on pour-over coffee and gongfu tea. The whole concept is built around slowing down and enjoying something carefully made, whether you’re browsing books and records or simply stopping in for a beautifully prepared cup.

It’s a real passion project, with signature coffee notes of milk chocolate, red wine, apple pie and caramel, plus a rotating selection of rare seasonal coffees and teas. Mention Inside Chiswick and you’ll receive a free sweet treat with your coffee. You can also find Coffee Against the Machine on Instagram: coffeeagainst_machine

Each week, we’ll spotlight a local social media account that captures something interesting, useful or distinctive about Chiswick. If you know an account we should feature, or run one yourself, we’d love to hear from you.
If you enjoy seeing Chiswick through a thoughtful local lens, this is a lovely account to follow. @pictures_of_chiswick captures the area’s charm in a way that feels genuine and observant, from familiar streets and landmarks to the quieter details that give Chiswick its character. Chiswick Book Festival
Chiswick's beloved book festival is back from 9–14 September at St Michael & All Angels Church, and the line-up is a cracker. Headliners include Dame Jacqueline Wilson, Nick Clegg, Sarah Vine and Robert Hardman — plus a special nod to The Beatles, 60 years on from filming two of their first pop videos right here at Chiswick House. Chiswick's café scene earns viral TikTok status
A new round-up has named Chiswick one of West London's top spots for a coffee shop crawl, spotlighting local independents including Debbie Jo, Waft, Matchado, Frankies and Tamp. Debbie Jo was crowned the standout, proof that the High Road's thriving café culture is drawing visitors from well beyond W4. Thanks to Wrap your lips around this
